3.8. Do / Due

Jace Hargis

✅ Do / Due

In this chapter, you will complete three types of assignments.
Finish all tasks and upload any required files to your Google Drive in the Module 3 folder.

  1. Experiment + Quiz: Try out an AI activity (using your TWU Google Gemini account) and complete the Module 3 multiple-choice quiz in Google Forms.
  2. Short Answer: Choose 3 of the 4 prompts provided and write responses of a few paragraphs each in a Google Doc. Save and upload to your Module 3 folder.
  3. Reflection Journal: Compile all of your responses to the green-box reflection prompts from across this module into one document. Save and upload to your Module 3 folder.

🔍 Experiment with AI + Quiz

  • Experiment with AI (not graded, no submission required):
    • Choose a scenario where AI might show bias (e.g., hiring, grading, medical advice, or media representation).
    • Give the AI a prompt to simulate the task (e.g., “Generate a short job description and ideal candidate profile for a leadership role in tech.”).
    • Look critically at the output. Ask yourself:
      • Does it assume stereotypes or omit perspectives?
      • What ethical risks are present if someone used this output without reflection?
    • Now, revise your prompt to mitigate bias. For example, add constraints such as:
      • “Ensure the description is inclusive and avoids cultural assumptions.
    • Compare the outputs side by side. Which feels more responsible? Which would you trust in practice?
  • Module 3 Multiple Choice Quiz:

💬 Short Answer Prompts

Choose 3 of the 4 prompts below. Write your responses (a few paragraphs each) in a Google Doc and upload to your Module [#] folder.

  • Prompt 1:
    • Query an AI model with a prompt that asks it to describe a “typical” student, professional, or leader. Reflect on whether the response shows bias. How might those biases affect real-world decision-making?
  • Prompt 2:
    • Imagine an AI tool incorrectly flags a student’s paper as “AI-generated.” Write a short paragraph: How should faculty respond? What safeguards would you recommend?
  • Prompt 3:
    • Reflect on one of the tensions from Chapter 3.2 (e.g., transparency vs. privacy). Consider each side. Reflect on how difficult it is to “choose” one principle over another.
  • Prompt 4:
    • If an AI system produces harmful or inaccurate output, who should be accountable — the developer, the user, the institution, or the AI itself? Defend your position.

📚 Weekly Reflection Journal

Weekly Reflection Journal

Bring together all of your responses to the green reflection prompts in this module. Label each entry with the chapter and prompt title.

  1. Copy each reflection you wrote into one document.
  2. Organize them in order (e.g., [#.1, #.2, #.3 …]).
  3. End with a short summary (5–7 sentences) highlighting one idea that changed your thinking and one question you still have.
